Excerpt from a feedback session with our IT Auditor (IDW) Sebastian Fleischer:

1. September 2025

Question: How do you retrospectively assess your decision to qualify as an IT auditor?

Answer: Since successfully completing the IDW IT auditor qualification, I have had the opportunity to practically conduct several IT audits. I am proud to have received positive feedback, particularly regarding consistently delivering results on time. I feel that my work approach has become more efficient and structured overall. The knowledge gained from the qualification has truly helped me in practice, enabling me to carry out IT audits more quickly and with a clear focus on the essentials.

Moreover, I genuinely enjoy the work. I can fully concentrate on the relevant risks, such as IT security gaps, vulnerabilities in IT processes, and compliance with current legal changes. In my view, this provides real added value to our clients. Specifically, I’m referring to our insights into weaknesses and opportunities. For example, there were considerable uncertainties regarding the NIS-2 Directive.

Question: What are your aspirations for the future?

Answer: Beyond auditing general IT controls, I would like to take on more effectiveness assessments of accounting-related IT controls within business processes. Here, I can leverage our experience with different systems to provide more detailed process-related recommendations. Ultimately, the challenge often lies in evaluating a specific IT control at a particular point in a process.
